
What is THRASS:
THRASS stands for Teaching, Handwriting, Reading and Spelling Skills, which is enjoying much success in Africa where it has been welcomed as heralding the start of a new era in the teaching of English in Africa.
THRASS is being used with children of all abilities from all types of backgrounds and in all types of school: government schools such as Farm schools in the Kwena Basin in the province of Mpumalanga, township schools in Orange Farm, Johannesburg and prestigious independent schools in several provinces
About THRASS:

· A unique concept that focuses on ‘Teaching Handwriting, Reading and Spelling Skills - THRASS®' with a primary aim being the improvement of the teaching and learning of English
· Targets foundation level learners and their teachers as this is a key stage for kids to grasp lifelong learning skills
· Creates a strong foundation of English skills using the 26 letters of the alphabet and 44 phonemes (sounds) as well as graphemes to explain sounds and words
· THRASS® Phoneme Machine is a groundbreaking computer programme that uses the International Phonetic Alphabet and moving human lips to demonstrate the pronunciation of sounds and a variety of frequently used English words o Available as easy to use flash cards, picture and calendar charts which are also available in interactive versions. Enables broader communication skills which can be used across other languages
Demonstrating SMART BOARD Technology application by a teacher where students can interact with the program by touching a SMART BOARD.
Similarly a Teacher can give the same lesson as with the SMART BOARD by using only the Wall Chart, as displayed above. Making THRASS applicable in modern schools and farm school enviroments where electricy is not as common.
